Ioannis Kouramanis
Staff Embedded Software Engineer – Hardware EngineeringIoannis is a lifelong tinkerer and inventor with a wide variety of interests who brings his love of puzzles and creative solutions to the world of embedded systems design.
A native of Toronto and graduate from the University of Toronto Engineering Science program, he participated in the design of several ATI desktop ASIC graphics chips including the 3D Rage II and his patented low-memory jpeg/mpeg capture engine brought high-quality, low energy video and image recording and playback to the PDA and cell phone world in the early 2000's.
In 2007 he turned his talents towards broadcast video developing several embedded FPGA-based devices for encoding, decoding and multiplexing video streams in a series of low-cost products in that space helping the broadcast world prepare for the terrestrial digital broadcast switchover in the early 2010's.
In his spare time he likes to create 3d-printed designs, embedded devices in his lab and furniture in his small woodshop.
