Senior Hardware Research Engineer
The Basics
- This is a full-time position. This posting is for a current vacancy.
- We will show strong preference for candidates that are located in the Greater Toronto Area or are willing to relocate.
- Work hours are flexible, but meetings are typically scheduled between 9 am and 5 pm Eastern Standard Time.
- The salary range for this position is $160,000 - $180,000 CAD. Stock options, with a 4-year vesting schedule, will also be included in the offer package.

We are looking for an engineer to help shape next-generation technologies from inception to realization. You will brainstorm, research, design and implement new technologies for our state of the art non-invasive health monitor platform. We expect you to be able to survey and distill academic research, design, build and test prototypes, and provide sound technical analysis to complex problems.
In this role, you'll be expected to:
- Contribute as a key technical expert and development leader in physics-driven hardware design, bridging theory with product development to provide prototype solutions to fruition.
- Collaborate closely with scientists, hardware engineers, and software teams to turn theoretical models into functional systems.
- Simulate and validate electromagnetic and thermodynamic performance, contributing to cross-functional design solutions with mechanical engineering.
- Design across multidisciplinary electro-mechanical functions including mixed-signal hardware, RF and antenna, robotics, analog, and firmware / FPGA.
- Provide technical feedback to peers throughout the tech development process, collaborating openly and cross-functionally in group settings.
You might be right for this role if you have:
- 5+ years of experience at the intersection of physics and hardware engineering, working on research for complex and innovative products.
- Working experience with NMR/MRI is considered a bonus.
- Strong skills in testing, signal analysis, debugging, and validating integrated systems.
- Experience with tools such as COMSOL, MATLAB, and HFSS/ADS are preferred, along with experience developing code (Python). Experience with 3D modeling is also a plus.
- The ability to tackle open-ended, loosely defined problems by driving progress through research, simulation, and rapid iterative development.
- A strong grasp of physics and engineering fundamentals, with the ability to solve difficult technical problems creatively and rigorously.
- Comfort with questioning industry assumptions and best practices through first principles.
- Demonstrated ability to share context appropriately and consistently across diverse working groups, adapting your communication style to your audience.
- A habit of providing concise, thoughtful feedback and progress updates to managers, colleagues, and other relevant stakeholders.
