Senior Electrical Engineer
The Basics
- This is a full-time position.
- This is a hybrid position. We’ll need you to come into our downtown Toronto office to support design bring-ups, development testing, and other in-person needs, but you won’t need to come in everyday.
- Work hours are flexible, but meetings are typically scheduled between 9 am and 5 pm Eastern Standard Time.
- The salary range for this position is $150,000 - $190,000 annually.
- The hiring manager for this position is Patryk Laskowski, and you can see his Linkedin profile here.
In this role, you'll be expected to:
- Guide the development of the electrical system utilizing simulations, first principles, and pathfinding projects.
- Serve as the team specialist in low-noise, low-signal analog design, working to maximize signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) and overall product performance.
- Support and refine the digital data architecture with a focus on performance optimization, thermal efficiency, and BOM cost reduction.
- Dive deeply into the architecture of the current driver and thermoelectric cooler (TEC) systems to ensure highly stable control of the magnetic system.
- Design and characterize the analog circuitry (filters, amplifiers) to meet SNR, stability, accuracy, and cost targets.
- Drive thorough testing and characterization of all designs, driving iterative improvements to meet performance, reliability, and manufacturability standards while ensuring all activities align with our Quality Management System (QMS).
- Represent the electrical engineering function in critical technical reviews, providing guidance and clarity on system-level decisions.
- Drive and support technical investigations on pathfinding projects.
You might be right for this role if you:
- Demonstrate deep expertise in low-noise, low-signal design with a strong track record of optimizing SNR in complex systems.
- Have a strong background in analog and digital design, with expertise in mixed-signal and front-end design.
- Bring experience in SDR-style architecture design, working with technologies like processors, SoC, DDR, and DAC/ADC.
- Possess a strong understanding of thermal management and cost-performance tradeoffs in digital system architecture.
- Have experience driving technical reviews and critical design assessments across multi-disciplinary teams.
- Apply sound, well-informed judgment using analytical and experimental approaches.
- Have a strong grasp of electrical first principles.
- Enjoy mentoring less experienced team members in areas of expertise.
