Kyle grew up in Texas where he attended the University of North Texas earning his B.S. degree in electrical engineering in 2015. Wanting to explore more of the country and his field he joined the Sensors and Integrated Microelectronics Laboratory (SIM Lab) at Oregon State University to begin work on his M.S. degree. During this time, he completed research in CMOS integrated thermal flow sensors earning his M.S in 2018. From there he continued at Oregon State to earn his doctorate degree. His research then focused on developing automated collision detection systems for wind turbines, work that involved embedded design, low-power edge-based machine learning development, and ultra-low power integrated circuit design. Kyle recently graduated with his doctorate in the winter of 2021 during which he contributed six papers and one pending patent. Outside of work, Kyle enjoys various hobbies: board gaming, cycling, fly fishing, hiking and skiing, and spending time with his two dogs, Sherlock and Strider.
