Principal Magnetic Resonance Scientist
The Basics
- This is a full-time position for a current vacancy.
- Candidates should live in or be willing to relocate to the Eastern Standard Time Zone in Canada or the United States, with preference for Toronto and Boston.
- The salary range for this position is $180,000 - $200,000 CAD. If located outside of Canada, any variations in range will be discussed during the intro call.

In this role, you'll be expected to:
- Own the company’s most critical NMR initiatives, ensuring they advance both scientific understanding and product success.
- Guide the NMR team in setting technical priorities, ensuring alignment with medium- and long-term company goals.
- Drive innovation across pulse sequence design, advanced spectroscopy and imaging techniques, shimming, and NMR simulations.
- Push creative thinking while developing novel approaches to targeted spectroscopy, employing spectral editing, relaxation and diffusion filtering, among others.
- Partner with DSP/ML, software, product, mechanical, and electrical engineering teams to integrate NMR innovation seamlessly into the product.
- Maintain a close watch on emerging NMR techniques through literature reviews and potential roadblocks, and advise leadership when priorities or strategies should shift.
- Champion best practices for documentation and communication across the NMR domain, ensuring scientific rigor and traceability.
- Mentor and elevate peers by modeling effective feedback, communication, and technical judgment.
- Help the NMR team maintain focus and resilience during periods of change by reiterating priorities and clarifying trade-offs.

- Extensive experience with in vivo MR spectroscopy.
- Experience in MRI and thorough understanding of various imaging techniques.
- Recognized expertise in magnetic resonance through publications, patents, or significant industry contributions.
- Experience communicating complex magnetic resonance concepts to diverse audiences.
- Experience leading prioritization and execution of technical initiatives with long-term strategic value.
- Demonstrated ability to set scientific direction and build alignment across technical teams, ensuring experimental work advances product and company goals.
- The ability to provide feedback that improves both product outcomes and the careers of colleagues.
- Exceptional creativity and scientific imagination — the ability to challenge assumptions, employ first principles thinking, propose novel ideas and translate them into practical advances.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal and empathic skills.
