Craig Lang
Staff Software Engineer – Software EngineeringCraig is an electrical engineer turned software developer. He has developed electronic hardware in the telecommunications industry and developed software for multiphysics engineering simulation and automated rail transportation solutions.
He has a strong focus on working in C/C++, Python, C#, and JavaScript, while keeping himself busy learning other languages and technologies. He has presented at PyOhio, PghPy Users’ Group, Code and Supply, and Pittsburgh TechFest. He was elected to Senior Membership in the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers in 2015.
He’s motivated to write better code not because someone hung a poster in the hall of a mountain climber, but because there is someone out there that is going to use the product his software is a part of. He wants them to have the best experience possible.
He is interested in all things STEM, attending presentations, visiting any library he can, and meeting interesting people. Interestingly, he has used a 20 inch (50.8 cm) telescope on a 6,880 ft (2,097 m) mountain in Arizona during steady 40 mph (64 kph) winds while participating in his amateur astronomy habit and has some beautiful images from the event.
