Sedigh GhamariSenior Machine Learning Engineer – Data Science
Sedigh is a theoretical physicist by training and an applied scientist by experience. He received his doctoral degree from McMaster University under the supervision of Profs. Catherine Kallin and Sung-Sik Lee. During his PhD he was affiliated with the Canadian Institute for Advanced Research (CIFAR) and Perimeter Institute for Theoretical Physics (PI). Sedigh's Master's thesis was on extracting relaxation rates from NMR spectra of synthetic cell membranes under the supervision of Prof. Edward Sternin at Brock University. He received the Thompson-Harrison Graduate Scholarship and the Distinguished Graduate Student Award for his thesis research. Sedigh's industry experience has predominantly been within healthcare and drug design. He was the ML lead of the end-to-end development of a complex diagnostic system for a rare and highly under-diagnosed pulmonary hypertension disease. The diagnostic system received the breakthrough status from the FDA in late 2018. Sedigh has four publications on topics within physics and machine learning, and two patents on medical devices.
